This year, April 19 & The concerts will be recorded for broadcast on South Dakota Public Radio's Houseblend with Bob Swinson show. All 50+ hours of concert will also be hosted in their entirety by South Dakota Public Broadcasting's DakotaCast? division, at its South Dakota Originals site, for at least 18 months. Plans to create an MP3 website and CDs are under discussion. Skills development opportunities include a weekend Songwriters Workshop by the Black Hills Songwriters group, and weekday "Business of Music" workshops at Borders by such local luminaries like Darla Drew Lerdal speaking on "The Map to the Money Tree" and grants for musicians. The Performing Arts Explosion includes several venues for poetry, prose and theater. These include several venues for writers of poetry, prose and theater, including the first Poetry Slam in the state, a published authors reading and a venue set aside just for younger writers.
